The Walnut Cajon with Karelian Birch Burl Tapa is part of the American ToneWood Series, built for players who want strong projection, controlled low-end, and a highly articulate snare response.
The body is handcrafted from select American walnut, chosen for its warm, focused tone and natural compression. The tapa features rare Karelian Birch Burl — a dense, visually striking hardwood known for fast attack and excellent sensitivity. This pairing produces crisp definition in the high register and a tight, punchy bass that stays balanced in both studio and live environments.
Each tapa is hand-voiced, and every edge is shaped and tuned one at a time in my shop here in Waresboro, Georgia. The snare system is adjusted for clarity without excess rattle, giving the drum a clean response that works well for contemporary acoustic sets, singer-songwriters, and percussionists who need reliability across dynamic ranges.
This instrument highlights the character of two exceptional tonewoods while staying true to the handcrafted feel of the American ToneWood Series.

If the product shows any sign of material or workmanship defect, we will replace it at no charge for a period of three (3) years commencing on the date of original retail purchase through an Authorized KOPF Percussion Dealer.
